His directorial debut, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2025\/sep\/07\/california-schemin-review-james-mcavoys-directorial-debut\">California Schemin\u2019<\/a>, is playing across all three screens at the Glasgow Film Theatre in the city centre, taking the festival\u2019s prestige closing slot.<\/p>\n<p>Usually, a big name would say a few words of introduction in the main cinema then bask in the glory. Not McAvoy.
