Those warnings were followed by reports of airstrikes in the south.<\/p>\n<p>Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a fragile temporary ceasefire in mid-April that has since been extended, but fighting has continued at a lesser scale. More than 1 million Lebanese, nearly one-fifth of Lebanon\u2019s population, have been displaced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo this is dozens of villages that now no one can technically access. They\u2019re calling it a &#8216;forward defensive zone,&#8217;\u201d says Lylla Younes, an investigative journalist based in Beirut. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing defensive about it. It\u2019s an offensive operation, and they\u2019re using the word &#8216;cleanse&#8217; to describe what they\u2019re doing there.
