Obviously.)<\/p>\n<p>But you could have read the runes of Scottish doom in that World Cup by the tunes that Scotland fans had in their ears. Scotland\u2019s song that year was Del Amitri\u2019s masterpiece of melancholy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2T68AXsUAEI\">Don\u2019t Come Home Too Soon<\/a>, the most downbeat, honest, and lyrical World Cup song ever written \u2013 alas, the team didnae listen. And there was the BBC\u2019s World Cup titles for 1998: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=mqYCxC9LHus\">Faur\u00e9\u2019s Pavane<\/a>, which lifted the moodometer from melancholic all the way to apathetic.
