As Kate (Geraldine James) manages the preparations, Geoff (Gabriel Byrne) receives a letter about a formative ex-girlfriend who died falling into a crevasse on the Swiss Alps more than 50 years ago. Katya\u2019s body has been found, preserved in ice. \u201cShe\u2019s still there,\u201d he says, and this frozen piece of his past threatens to cast the couple\u2019s Norfolk village life together in a different, perhaps lesser, light.<\/p>\n<p>David Constantine\u2019s short story <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2015\/aug\/27\/45-years-review-tom-courtenay-and-charlotte-rampling-superb-as-couple-freshly-possessed-by-the-past\">turned film<\/a> is a quiet and delicate thing. So much of its emotion happens in the unspoken moments and silent revelations.
